Community Resources

WHERE TO GO…  WHO TO CALL…

Often times we find ourselves asking the question, “Where can I find this?” or “Who can help me with that?”  This section of our website is an attempt to compile as much resourceful information – IN ONE PLACE – as we possibly can.  The 24th Ward has a vast array of public services, social services, supportive agencies and organizations.  Some of them have been around for a long time and some of them are fairly new.  We want our residents to know more about all of the resources available to them, because knowing is half the battle.

LIHEAPAlderman Chandler and Chicago Police District

This winter heating season, LIHEAP-eligible applicants will have an option to decide which of the two affordable energy programs is the best for you:

OPTION #1: LIHEAP Direct Vendor Payment is designed to provide a one-time payment directly to the utility companies that are applied to the applicant’s bill.  The amount of the payment is determined by size of household, income and fuel type.

OPTION #2: LIHEAP Percentage of Income Payment Plan will provide a monthly payment to the utility companies.  Residents still have to pay a reduced amount of their monthly bill, but will receive credits toward their balance if their payments are received on time.  Disconnected accounts do not qualify.

Documents you need to apply include: proof of income, copy of recent utility bill, proof of social security numbers of entire household and medical cards for entire household.
