Alderman & Clerk Host "24th Ward City Sticker Sale Day" - Tue., July 2, 10am-4pm

Chicago City Vehicle Stickers will be sold in the 24th Ward Office, 1158 S. Keeler Avenue on Tuesday, July 2nd from 10am-4pm.  Drivers can stop by the Ward Office their City Vehicle Sticker, Annual Residential Parking and Residential Guest Parking Permits.  Drivers must have their annual renewal form to purchase stickers or bring their vehicle state registration card, insurance card or vehicle title that contains their Vehicle Identification Number.  For questions, contact Alderman Chandler's Office, 773-533-2400.

Windy City Hoops Program at Franklin Park, 4320 W. 15th Street  

Boys and girls ages 13-18 can now sign up to play basketball in the ADMISSION-FREE Windy City Hoops program offered at 10 citywide parks. The spring session has begun and culminates with championships June 1. Summer session will run June 14-Aug. 24. The expanded program will give 3,200 youth opportunities to play year round. The program will provide a safe environment for at-risk youth throughout the city. The program now has extended hours so that youth can play Fridays from 7-10 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-10 p.m. Admission is free. Lawndale Christian Fitness Center - 1st Annual Women's Basketball League  

Since basketball is such an impactful sport, LCFC is starting a women's basketball league this spring.  The league will help individuals develop team skilss, provide a positive way to spend time, as well as give them a place to practice physical fitness and have fun on the weekends. Three main objectives of the basketball leaqgue are: 1) Individual Growth & Healthy Choices; 2) Reunite the Community; and 3) Promote the Development of Women in the Communities on the westside, as well as create opportunities for racial reconciliation.  Click here for the flyer.

Chicago Park District - Get Ready For 2013 Summer Day Camp Registration!  

Save the Date! Summer Day Camp registration is just around the cornr!  Online summer program registration begins at 9:00AM on:
 - Monday, April 15th for parks west of California Avenue; and
 - Tuesday, April 16th for parks east of california Avenue
In person registration begins on Saturday, April 20th at most parks.  You will be able to view program offerings and create wish lists beginning Monday, April 1st.  Summer Day camps in 24th Ward include:

The Black Star Project's Saturday University In 24th Ward - Register Today 

The Saturday University features FREE math and reading courses taught by instructors that fully engage all students as active learners.  This supplemental education is designed to boost children's academic success and to raise our communities' academic expectations.  The YMEN Organization, 1241 S. Pulaski Rd, Chicago, IL 60624 has signed up as a Saturday University location.  They will host classes on Saturdays from 9:00am  - 12:00pm.  Click here for more information about this great program.

Permanent Household Chemicals and Recycling Facility - 1150 N. North Branch St.

Dispose of your household chemicals responsibly and recycle your old computers by dropping them off at the City's permanent facility.  When thrown out with our garbage, household chemicals and computers, which often contain hazardous substances, such as lead, mercury, and PCBs can contaminate our air, soil and water.  Through proper disposal methods or recycling, these hazardous substances are reprocessed and reused in an environmentally-responsible manner.  Click here for more information on days/hours of operation and what the facility will/will not accept.
